Converse Pro Leather 1976 - Centennial Package

In 2008, Converse commorates its centennial year as one of the world’s most coveted and iconic brands. From the invention of the All Star shoe in 1917 to the African-American Barnstorming Teams of the 1920s and 1930s, to the birth of the NBA and Rock & Roll, to today’s pop culture, so many of those who have disrupted the status quo and changed history have worn Converse.

In this celebration, Converse has re-issued a stitch by stitch piece of Converse History, the Pro Leather 1976. The shoe debuted over thirty years ago at a time when basketball needed a vibe. Along came some guys wearing short shorts, tall socks, big hair and the Pro Leather. They carried the game through one of its most crucial transistions with style, flair and creatvity. In ’82, the sneaker earned the nickname “buzzer beaters” for its part in a last minute college championship win.

In this special Centennial Package, Converse includes a pair of tall socks, a Pro Leather inspired tee shirt and of course the stitch by stitch re-issue of the Pro Leather 1976. Via Freshness
