Before Ray Allen reappropriated the name, the Association’s original ‘Sugar Ray’ was Michael Ray Robinson. While inspiration for the Nike Sky Force Mid LE that bears his nickname on the lining isn’t immediately obvious, the tonal white silhouette and speckled icey sole might point to ::sniff:: the four-time All-Star’s checkered past. His own shoe released twenty-five years after participating in the 1985 Eastern Conference All Star team’s freeze out of rookie Michael Jordan, Sugar Ray is finally getting his due. While we’d hesitate to say they’re even, the HoH-exclusive April 2009 release will satisfy sneakerheads and NBA fanatics alike.
