If you’re old enough to remember being excited to shop at a K-Mart, you might recall that back in the day, sneakers with video game characters and insignias weren’t exactly the biggest status items. But as the gaming industry and sneaker culture have both grown in sophistication since the 1980s, the collaborations that have come our way are on par with many of the best from artists and fashion insiders. And so the Super Mario Brothers x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star manages a much higher cool factor than those old velcro getups but they stay true to the old school by sporting an 8-bit OG Mario on a choice of black or white canvas.
