Braniff International Airways x Converse

Braniff International Airways x Converse

Braniff International Airways Converse 11

We’ve sneakers inspired by classic cars and designed in collaboration with upcale hotels, but this new drop from Converse looks to the skies for one of the more unique ‘collabo’ capsules we’ve seen this year. The One Star examines the impact of 1978’s Airline Deregulation Act in this set of Braniff International x Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars and Jack Purcells. Decked out in colors copied from ads that served as the basis for American Apparel’s ironic, stark sexiness, these kicks take you up in the air and back in time to a period when Chucks only came in a handful of colors.  Times have changed and Braniff’s closure in ’82 was just the start of consolidation in the airline industry, but the true classics always keep their value. Click through to see more of this iconic American mashup and be ready when they touch down in Japan this July. via HS
