Air Jordan Vi Jason Vorhees Customs By El Cappy 1

The nixed Nightmare on Elm Street-inspired ‘Freddy Krueger’ Dunk Low SB is every bit the urban legend you’d expect from a shoe whose muse is a nightmare-inhabiting, razor-gloved mass murdering maniac.  Its signature sweater-and-seared-flesh look has been appropriated on a couple of color swap custom Air Jordans in recent months, and you can’t mention this ’80s slasher legend without his Friday the 13th peer and 2003 film foe entering the discussion.  So it was really only a matter of time and a question of ‘whodunit’ and with which ‘weapon’ before a design like El Cappy‘s latest came into the spotlight.

This Air Jordan VI ‘Jason Voorhees‘ looks like it was exhumed from Camp Crystal Lake, a murky, detail-packed design whose distinct touches include blood-splattered laces and Voorhees’d ‘Jumpman’ tees with decapitated heads to boot.  This item in particular is a reminder of how, in an entirely different way, Gourmet’s early catalog made a similar statement about the foundational nature of the Air Jordan’s influence in the streetwear world; should custom artists further extend their scope to include conceptual branding elements and other ‘official’ collaboration niceties?  Let us know what you think of El Cappy’s latest custom job when you’re on the other side looking at more photos and stick with Sneaker News for the sneakerhead scene’s best custom designs.
