Classics Revisited: Nike “Clerks” Pack (2005-2006)

Nike Clerks Pack

NIKE PACK WEEK

Over the last several weeks, Sneaker News has covered a nice variety (albeit a small chunk of the massive library of sneakers) of notable releases from the last decade for Classics Revisited consisting of Air Max collaborations, early-era Foamposites, and even Air Jordan Lows. Each of the aforementioned carry some heavy weight, but special attention must be given to one particular piece of verbage that continues to be used today – the sneaker ‘Pack’. What a ‘Pack’ annotates is either an official or un-official gathering of sneakers that fall under on specific sub-category – the recent ‘Home Run Derby’ Pack of the Nomo and two Griffeys being a prime example. Beginning in 2005, Nike teamed up with a number of notable sneaker retailers for the ‘Clerks’ Pack, which involved a veritable list of reputable shops like UNDFTD, Stussy, Huf, and Size? over the span of one year. Three major cities were targeted for the Clerks Pack, beginning with Los Angeles in 2005, and followed by London and San Francisco in 2006.

The first leg of the Clerks Pack begin in Los Angeles with Stussy (Blazer Mid ’73), Union (Air Force 180), and UNDFTD (Dunk High NL) and released in 2005; of the three, the Air Force 180 is certainly the attention-grabber of the bunch, with the high-rise silhouette given an astounding visual punch with safari print, a gradient white/pink midsole, and the color-blotted spots on the ankle collar and insole. The Clerks Pack continued in London (April 2006) with three Air Max silhouettes (Air Max 90, Air Stab, and Air Classic BW) with the Air Max 90, inspired by the scenic colors of Brighton Beach, being the most coveted of the three, and finally in San Francisco (July 2006) with NORT (Dunk High), Huf (Air Max 90), and True (Air Humara). If anyone has all nine of the original Clerks Pack to call their own, many kudos for owning one of the most memorable ‘Pack’ releases in Nike history!
