NIKE DUNK LOW WEEK

Starting off our week of Dunk Low classics is, not surprisingly, a collaboration with a internationally-respected sneaker boutique located in one of the most picturesque locales in the world – KICKS Hawaii. Nike’s Jesse Leyva and KICKS/HI teamed up for this Dunk Low design in 2004 in which the Ian Ginoza, the creative mind behind the KICKS/HI label, was given the opportunity to represent the culture and scenery of their home state. The result was clearly representative of the laid-back style of luaus and beach-front parties, with the green/brown/beige colorway and weaved ‘Lauhala’ bamboo mid-panel. One of the more unique features of this Dunk Low seen in a very small amount of other releases is that the tongue label as well as the stitched embroidery on the heel have been switched from the customary Nike label to ‘ALOHA’ on the tongue and ‘HAWAII’ on the heel-tabs. Today, the Aloha Dunks are likely in the possession of hardcore Dunk Low aficionados, but you can still find them around today around the $200-250 range. More of this great Dunk Low release below, so take a gander and stay tuned for more of Dunk Low-centric Classics Revisited this week!
