Air Jordan IX “Doernbecher” – Release Reminder

The continuing saga of the Air Jordan Doernbecher continues tomorrow as the entire Doernbecher Freestyle IX goes up for sale to the public. Since its first installment in 2007, the Air Jordan Doernbecher has risen to incredible heights in popularity, rivaling some of the most praised Air Jordan originals as the most coveted releases of all time, demanding insanely high dollars in the re-sale market due to its limited units and distinct colorways. Tonight, Sneaker News presents a detailed gallery of the Air Jordan 9 Retro DB, which features a luxurious composition of colors and heartfelt details selected by Doernbecher Hospital patient and designer Oswaldo Jimenez.

Exclusive release to: Nikestore, NikeTown, and 21 Mercer

The Air Jordan IX marks the sixth release of the Air Jordan Doernbecher.

The lasered feather detailing on the upper refers to Oswaldo’s nickname of “Pollito”.

Oswaldo’s name is embroidered in old-time font on the heel-tabs.

Oswaldo’s favorite number is 17. It replaces the original ’23’ on the Air Jordan IX.

The red and green outsoles are a homage to his Oswaldo’s hometown of Queretaro, Mexico.

“Pollito”, which translates to “little chicken”, is Oswaldo’s nickname.

September 13th, labeled on both tongues, represents Oswaldo’s birthday.
