The adidas Superstar‘s 30th anniversary celebration has come correct in the originality department. Seemingly every week we’re blessed with a new take on the lifestyle classic, but Afew‘s version featuring a wooden shell-toe may be the craziest yet. The German boutique enlisted local artist Ivan Beslic to transform one of the three stripes’ most iconic models into a piece of art in an homage to hip-hop history, basketball, and skate culture. Utilizing a crisp white leather upper, a suede tongue leads into the platane-wood shell-toe while some of Beslic’s original prints serve as the insole. The collaborative effort will launch on July 31st at the Afew x Ivan Beslic Exhibition at Afew’s Düsseldorf location. The exhibit will feature original works from Ivan Beslic as well as a display of upcoming adidas Originals Superstar pairs and a nod to the past with a vintage collection.
