Don’t Let This Iconic Nike Retro Release Get By You

Nike Cortez 1972 Sp Og Colorway 01

The Nike Cortez ’72 is back in its original form, joining the ranks of the plethora of other classic Cortez releases to shine a light on a true Nike OG throughout this year. The Cortez pre-dates the actual Nike namesake too, as the shoe had its origins as the brand was going under the name Blue Ribbon Sports during its earliest years. Originally designed for Onitsuka Tiger of all brands, designer Bill Bowerman took back his design only to have the Japanese brand file a lawsuit over its true ownership. We’ve seen the Nike Cortez in both nylon and leather classic constructions but this pair tries to replicate its earliest form, as a premium leather base sees the OG color combination of red and royal hit in brief accents throughout. Check out more photos below and know that this piece of history will be available this Thursday, September 24th.
