With the 2017 MLB All-Star festivities coming next week, Jordan Brand is celebrating the occasion by releasing the Air Jordan 9 Retro designed after a leather baseball glove. Throwing back to Michael Jordan’s days on the diamond isn’t something new to the brand, but there’s never been a sneaker release executed quite like this. The shoes officially release on July 15th worldwide, but here’s a quick rundown on what you should know about the Air Jordan 9 “Baseball Glove”.

SCOTTSDALE SCORPIONS

While Michael Jordan’s short-lived baseball career is typically tied to the Birmingham Barons, healso played in the Arizona Fall League for the Scottsdale Scorpions, wearing the 35 jersey. Jordan nearly tripled the attendance of those Arizona Fall League games.

MYSTERY PACK

The release is inspired by the 1990s tradition of opening up baseball trading cards. Each pair of shoes is individually packaged in a black Jumpman bag, and you won’t know what colorway you purchased until you do. The specific color will not be labeled on the box, and will instead be labeled as “MULTI/MULTI-MULTI”.

According to Jordan Brand, the Hazelnut “Scorpions” colorway is much more limited than the Black “Barons” colorway. Consider yourself extra lucky if you manage to pull the brown pair!

The Air Jordan 9 “Baseball Glove” comes with a large, chiseled, matte black Jumpman hang-tag. It shares the same shape as the Jumpman hang-tags that came with previous Pinnacle releases.
