The Jordan Generation Brings In New Design Elements To The Air Jordan 12

Jordan 12 Generation Shoe 2
Updated on September 28th, 2017: The Jordan Generation in “Black/Chrome” is available now for $160 at Nike.

Jordan Brand has made efforts to create new silhouettes based off the sole designs of classic Air Jordan models in the past. Perhaps the most reused ones are the soles of the Air Jordan 3 and 4 mostly because other Nike footwear models shared the same sole. Outside of the Spiz’ike and Dub Zero, two hybrid models that hinged on the Air Jordan designs, there really haven’t been any old-meets-new hybrids that were met with widespread success. It’s quite a challenge to build off a classic, but Jordan Brand is making an ambitious attempt with the Jordan Generation, a shoe that features a radically designed upper with the sole of the Air Jordan 12.

Most notable about the Jordan Generation is the large mid-foot strap and the ankle straps that tighten the Huarache-esque ankle construction. The rest of the upper is rather simple as it features a unibody mesh upper and a synthetic leather toe-box. The most striking visual is, of course, the translucent “icy” sole on the Air Jordan 12 bottom.
