The Original Nike Air Max 1 “Sport Red” Returns With An Air Max 90 Sole

The Original Nike Air Max 1 “Sport Red” Returns With An Air Max 90 Sole

Nike has never shied away from hybridized Air Max silhouettes in the past, but the immensely popular reception of Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/97 has brought the idea into the mainstream. It goes without saying that a hybrid sneaker will be more popular if the two models coming together have had individual success, and that is exactly the case with the Air Max 90/1 that you see here. Done up with the original “Sport Red” colorway and upper of the Air Max 1, it sits atop the sole unit of the Air Max 90. Premium leather replaces the usual tooling of the Air Max 1 to give these sneaker a bit of a luxurious touch.

At the moment, a release is tentatively scheduled for April 28th in Japan, with a Stateside release going down shortly after. Enjoy an official set of images below and stay tuned for updates as they become available.

Update: The Air Max 90/1 will release in Europe on June 1st.
