Vans Releases Its Own Chunky Shoe Called The Varix

Heading into fall, chunky “dad” shoes are still one of the hottest trends in the world of footwear. More and more brands are reaching into their archives for inspiration, and the latest company to join the party is Vans. With a long and rich skateboarding history, many of the California-based brand’s late ’90s — early ’00s designs featured the bulky aesthetic that’s popular again today, and their new Varix silhouette appears as if it came straight from the turn of the century. A puffy white mesh serves as the base, while the upper is adorned with a cornucopia of leather and suede overlays — most of which call upon earthy colors like grey, tan, and burnt orange, although mint green and pink provide pops of flair as well. A cup sole ensures the shoes are as skate-ready as they are stylish, and Vans’ signature waffle pattern makes an appearance on the brown outsole. If you’re a fan of these retro-styled skate shoes, they’re available at Urban Outfitters now for an even $100
