In honor of Will Smith’s – aka the Fresh Prince – 50th birthday, the Jordan Brand will be releasing an alternate take on the illustrious Air Jordan 5 “Grape” inspired by the laceless pair he frequently wore on set. Leading up the the drop, Smith and the Jumpman have created a hilarious marketing campaign centered around parody unboxing videos, giving Smith a @philasneakerguy68 alias. Of course, devoid of any laces, this upcoming Jordan 5 equips Nike Air branding on its heels, a special West Philadelphia hit underneath its tongue, and custom Fresh Prince x Jordan insoles done up in a familiar pink and yellow striped pattern. Due to its NRG label, pairs are expected to be relatively limited upon their arrival at select retailers on September 25th, Smith’s actual birthday. However, the Jumpman will also be releasing an incredibly exclusive friends and family pair dipped in gold that will be capped at only 23 pairs worldwide. Enjoy a detailed look at an official set of images for the Air Jordan 5 NRG “Fresh Prince” below and check out the aforementioned unboxing parody here while you wait.
