Air Jordan 1 “A Star Is Born” Remembers Michael Jordan’s First Sports Illustrated Cover With The Chicago Bulls

Air Jordan 1 “A Star Is Born” Remembers Michael Jordan’s First Sports Illustrated Cover With The Chicago Bulls

Jordan Brand is calling upon some of Michael Jordan’s most memorable moments from his first NBA season as inspiration for their Holiday 2018 slate of Air Jordan 1 releases. Alongside the “Rookie Of The Year” AJ1, the Jumpman Brand has also prepared a special “A Star Is Born” makeup that draws its inspiration from Mike’s first-ever SI cover as a member of the Bulls — an issue that featured a picture of MJ gliding past a trio of helpless Milwaukee Bucks defenders, on his way to an easy bucket during the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The vibrant colors of the Bucks uniforms are transferred onto the shoe’s Swoosh, which features a blocked green and white design similar to the side striping present on the Milwaukee jerseys. Bulls flavor is provided by red accents on the tongue, collar, and around the outside of the swoosh. Meanwhile, a clean combo of tumbled white and black leather serves as the base for all the special embellishments. For a unique finishing touch “A Star Is Born” — the issue’s headline — is printed on the inside of the collar flaps. Enjoy a full set of official images and a look at the cover below, and look for these special Jordan shoes to arrive on Nike.com later this holiday season.
