On top of being the single greatest regular season day of basketball during the entire year, Christmas Day gives the world’s top ballers and signature athletes the chance to show off new colorways of their most prominent signature models. This year, when the Baby-Faced assassin laces up his Curry 6s in Oracle against LeBron James and the new-look Lakers, he will be doing so in a special Christmas colorway designed in collaboration with the Bay’s very own entrepreneur and customizer, Devlin Braswell or Dee-Nyce. Calling upon the Bay’s youth for inspiration, Dee challenged a class of 12 children ages 8-13 to help lead the creative direction of the sneaker. With the theme of Christmas at the forefront, the first goal of the shoe’s design was to portray snow in the Lake Tahoe area, due to the fact that their home town does not usually get snow due to the warm climate. A classic mixture of blue and white reflects Tahoe’s icy snowcaps and brisk breeze of the December air as well as hits of Carolina blue to emulate Curry’s childhood holidays spent in North Carolina. Finishing touches include the children’s actual snowflake drawings on the insoles, and a holiday-themed Oakland tree on on its heel drawn by two of the classmates.
Those looking to cash in on the holiday spirit given off by these Curry 6s will be able to grab them from he SC30 X Oakland pop-up shop in downtown Oakland on 9th Street at Broadway (472 9th Street) on December 22nd with additional pairs dropping on the UA app and on UA.com at 8am ET and 10am ET respectively the day after Christmas.
