adidas Originals To Honor Chinese New Year With Several Footwear Models

adidas Originals To Honor Chinese New Year With Several Footwear Models

The Chinese New Year has always served as a popular point of inspiration for footwear brands, and it’s easy to see why. Between the animals of the zodiac calendar, the rich traditional color schemes, and the extensive history, there’s plenty to pull from. The latest pack of CNY-inspired kicks to surface? adidas’s new collection, featuring models like the Yung 96 and adidas Superstar. Each shoe looks to a traditional palette of red with gold accents — possibly inspired by traditional Chinese silks — while the collection’s main special detailing arrives via embroidered lion dance costume graphics on the heels of each shoe. Both pairs utilize their inspiration in different ways — with the Yung 96 opting for a mostly red look with neon yellow accents, while the Superstar keeps things slightly more simple, featuring a straightforward red/white combo with small pops of gold detailing — but the heritage stylings are certainly unmistakable on both. Grab a look at the new CNY kicks from the Trefoil Brand below, and be sure to keep it locked here as more pairs from the collection will likely surface in the coming weeks.
