Nike Celebrates Chinese New Year With This Hairy Air Max 95

Though Chinese New Year is still a few weeks away, Beaverton is set to kick off its celebrations early, ushering in a series of new colorways leading up to the forthcoming February date. While many an inspired tooling is geared to bring in the Year of the Pig, the Air Max 95 is among the first to spearhead the festivities. Many of the tones associated with the grand holiday can find on full display here, with the lace stay and branding hits taking on a luxe gold finish while a bold midsole harkens back to the auspicious color found predominantly in lucky envelopes and many extravagant decorations. Though seemingly subtle upon first glance, the mudguard of the model and its many intricate layers don a hairy texture, separating the release from its more contemporary cohorts. Nike’s Air Max 95 “Chinese New Year” is set to debut first in China on January 4th, with a US release date expected for later this month.
