Austin’s No-Comply Skateshop Teams With Daniel Johnston For Vans Collaboration

Austin, TX-based visual artist/singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston is no stranger to collaboration — having lent his art to several Supreme capsule collections — and now he’s back in the synergetic spotlight once again, as he’s joined forces with Austin’s No-Comply Skateshop and Vans for two special shoes: a Vans Era and a Vans Slip-On.

Both shoes in the collection use white canvas and nubuck with a contrasting midsole stripe, and are dressed with Johnston’s signature light-hearted doodles from some of his most classic albums. However, the embellishments are applied in a different way: the Era splashes the designs liberally across the midfoot, heel, and tongue, while the Slip-On opts to keep things simple by comparison, opting to dress the forefoot’s wear guard and heel. Custom insole and outsole detailing is also present on each silhouette, and No-Comply’s logo appears via a small tag on the heel to finish the look. Each pair comes with a rich selection of accoutrements too, as they’re both accompanied by a custom tote bag, bandanna, guitar pick, and koozie. The collection is limited to a mere 320 pairs per style, and will release March 13th exclusively in-store at No-Comply as a celebration of their 12th anniversary. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Hi, How Are You project — a charity with a mission of encouraging fully open conversations around mental health. Check out both shoes below, and be sure to stop by on the 13th if you’re in Texas.
