Ahead of his impending title fight against Daniel Jacobs, WBA and WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez hit Stadium Goods in New York City to do a little sneaker shopping with Joe La Puma. Unlike many guests who seemingly feel a pressing need to prove their sneaker bona fides, the champ readily admits that he didn’t pay too much attention to sneakers as a kid and mostly just wore K-Swiss, as his early adolescence was consumed by training. He goes on to discuss how he puts function over fashion when it comes to most of his footwear selections — he prefers to run in Sauconys — and how he appreciates Kobe Bryant‘s Nike Kobe 9 Elite for its boxing boot-esque shape. After mentioning his love for Louis Vuitton and the Balenciaga Speed Trainer, Alvarez then proceeds to put down almost $20,000 on a Supreme/Louis Vuitton hoodie and several pairs of shoes, displaying an affinity for the Nike Air Max 90 in particular.
