The Nike Zoom Rookie Receives A “Memphis Tigers” Colorway

The Nike Zoom Rookie Receives A “Memphis Tigers” Colorway

From standout hometown player to rising coach, Penny Hardaway‘s roots at the University of Memphis run deep, and after this spring’s collegiate-styled take on the Foamposite One Nike is turning to the Tigers for inspiration yet again, this time on the Zoom Rookie. A hybrid design from the Nike Penny line that combines the Air Flight One and Air Go LWP, this Rookie features a white leather-and-mesh upper, all of which is ensconced comfortably in a two-piece molded foam shell with textured pods. It’s this shell where the shoe earns its moniker too, thanks to the dark blue tiger print that swaths its light blue base, an embellishment that combines the U of M’s colors in an interesting alternate fashion. Further detail is then provided by a crisp blue Swoosh on the toebox, Penny’s 1 Cent logo on the tongue, a carbon fiber midfoot plate, and an icy outsole. They’re set to release on June 1st for $210 USD at retailers such as Oneness, so enjoy a first look right here, and stay tuned for other Nike Basketball news.
