The Nike Air Max 90 “Mixtape B Side” Is Revealed

After the recent debut of the Nike Air Max 90 “Side A,” we now have a look at its literal and figurative counterpart: the “Side B.” Just like its twin, this mixtape-inspired Max digs deep into ’90s heritage, presenting a hand-scrawled “tracklist” under the translucent outsole that acknowledges some of the best Air Max 90 colorways of all time while also nodding to a bygone-yet-beloved era before streaming, one where where homemade compilations were the norm. The clever detailing on the leather tongue returns as well, with a 33 1/3 RPM hit — the speed at which vinyl records are played — accompanied by the shoe’s style code and color info, seemingly drawn directly off the box. The “Moon Landing”-style print returns on the medial midfoot overlays as well. Although the details may be familiar, the palette flips the script on the first pair’s bright and summery look, instead opting for a more dark and stormy combination of a black base/anthracite accents, all of which are amplified by vibrant pops of coral on the laces, heel, and midfoot Swoosh. Bricolage-style stitching on the heel and an alternately logo-ed tongue badge add farther to the agglomeration of aesthetics, and a finishing hit of premium flair is provided by cork insoles. You’ll be able to press play on these Nike shoes come June 22nd, so check out a store list below to see what retailers will have stock.
