ASICS Creates A GEL-Kayano 5 Inspired By Malaysia’s National Dish

Despite being of two non-related categories, cuisine and sneakers have often gone hand in hand with designers frequently heading to the produce section for their latest inspiration. With Saucony almost constantly dishing out their own takes atop staple silhouettes, it seems Japan’s ASICS are readied to head into the ring as the GEL-Kayano 5 OG dons a tooling influenced by Malaysia’s national dish Nasi Lemak. Colorful to put things lightly, the main course finds its most vibrant accents on display across the silhouette’s construction: yolky yellows as well as the saucy reds at primary notes to a base of rice-akin whites while overlaid logo hits bear the deep leafy green tones. Branding is dressed minimally in unison with the midsole, though a touch of light gum bottoms add further connection to the recipe’s more nutty ingredients. Grab a detailed look at the pair right here and find it heading to your table on October 5th.
