Nike Helps Remember The Departed With A Day Of The Dead Themed Cortez

Nike Helps Remember The Departed With A Day Of The Dead Themed Cortez

As we set foot into the month of October, the many spooky celebrations readied by each and every brand are slowly starting to rear their head. While we got an early look at just some of what Beaverton has in store — namely the cemetery visages of its kids Air Max 98 and the bone-plastered Air Force 1 — the imprint further shows they haven’t quite yet revealed all that’s up their sleeve. Shedding its Forrest Gump associations and stark retro runner appearances, the Nike Cortez is back once more with Day of the Dead inspirations taking up residence along its upper. Stark black tones adorn much of the outward palette, bearing a reversed leather texture that is more so fitting of the Mexican holiday; not alone in subtleties, however, the white swoosh at the model’s side takes on blending patterns, forming almost invisible geometrics akin to the decorations of Día de los Muertos. Bits of orange at the stitching as well as the striping along the midsole create more overt connection to Halloween itself, while the insole print brings it back around. Take a look at the pair in detail right below and find it hitting retailers as well as Nike.com on October 30th.
