Junya Watanabe Adds An Angelic Touch To The New Balance 990v5

Junya Watanabe Adds An Angelic Touch To The New Balance 990v5

While Junya Watanabe’s clothing often ends up on the wilder side of the spectrum — fully baring the designer’s CDG roots — his footwear collaborations have not been so fortunate, though their merit is found more so in quality than bold colors or deconstructed modifications. Seeing to many a silhouette in the recent past, with some walking the runways of his Paris Fashion Week show, the latest to hit retailers is none other than the New Balance 990v5. Its palettes are largely unassuming yet its execution leaves little to be desired; dressed tonally, the uppers pair shades of both white and grey throughout with hardshell supports distinguishing themselves against mesh, buffed leathers, and suede through a barely yellowed finish. “N” logos are stripped down relative to mainline releases and the “JUNYA WATANABE MAN” logo prints along the insole, leaving other branding mostly standard in their contrasting flourish. Grab a detailed look at these right here and find them available at select boutiques right now.
