Jordan Brings Back The Team Showcase From 2000/2001

Jordan Brings Back The Team Showcase From 2000/2001

If you’ve already checked out our Jordan Releases 2020 calendar, it should come as no surprise that the new decade will see fan-favorites like the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” and Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” make a return. But perhaps what no one could’ve predicted is that Jordan Brand is sprinkling in a few obscure Jumpman retros into this year’s release cycle like the pair simply known as the “Womens Jordan” from 1998 or the recently re-surfaced Team Showcase model from 2000/2001. If you followed college hoops around the turn of the century, you might recognize the mid-top silhouette from watching the California Bears, North Carolina Tar Heels, and other teams signed with Jordan Brand at the time. The performance model has quietly hit a wide range of retailers in a few outfits, but its “UNC” colorway arguably captures the of-the-era aesthetic the best. Built with both a white midsole and tumbled leather upper, the retro’s most iconic detail is the thick light-blue stripe running diagonally from the forefoot and through the midfoot, tucking underneath the layered collar of the same color. This pair features “JORDAN” text on the midfoot contrast, but PEs from its heyday opted for the wearer’s team name. The blue hue also furnishes the insole and outsole, as well as the Jumpman “fast-forward/rewind” embellishment at the heel (also recreated on the tongue in rhinestones).

Grab a closer look at this model that JB has kept in the vault for so long and find them appearing at retailers everywhere in this “UNC” and other colorways as the new year gets going.
