The ASICS “Retro Tokyo” Pack Dressed Three Runners In Cream And Red

While plans for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Tokyo have largely been kept under wraps by key players in the sportswear space, ASICS is among the few brands that has started unveiling (and releasing) footwear related to either the competition or its host city. Starting off the year with a GEL-Kinsei OG done in the colors of the Olympics’ ring logo, the Japanese institution has recently dressed up the same samurai armor-inspired sneaker, as well as its GEL-Kayano 5 and Lyte, in a cream and red outfit as part of its “Retro Tokyo” collection. Also including louder red and blue colorways and models like the GT-2000 8, these releases commemorate ASICS’ Japanese heritage and offer an extensive range of options to potential spectators of the Games. This three-shoe group, however, is arguably the most suitable for everyday life once the Olympics frenzy dies down given its clean color palette. Opting for some variation of white or off-white on the uppers, each pair in this trifecta decorates its profile Tiger logos in the same bold red found on the host country’s flag. Elsewhere on the shoes, hits of blue join the mix subtly across branding, eyestays, and other small details.

Grab a quick look at these three “Retro Tokyo” pairs below and find the GEL-Kayano 5 and GEL-Kinsei OG available now at ASICS.com for $120 and $180 USD, respectively.
