The Famed Rucker Park Inspired This Nike Air Flight ’89

The Famed Rucker Park Inspired This Nike Air Flight ’89

If you’re a fan of basketball, then theres definitely a good chance that you’ve heard of Rucker Park. The famous court located in New York City is home to some of the greatest streetball festivities (and NBA Street Vol. 2 gamebreakers) the game has ever witnessed, with NBA legends from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Kobe Bryant to Kevin Durant being some of the notable athletes who have set foot on its grounds. And now, the historic destination is being highlighted through Nike’s footwear as this forthcoming colorway of the Air Flight ’89 pays homage to the Entertainers Basketball Classic, the Harlem-based park’s iconic basketball tournament, by adopting color schemes reflective of the players’ jerseys. While the base is kept minimal through its pure white leathers and black swoosh logos, these lifestyle kicks bring the beauty through the details as orange – the tone of the aforementioned uniforms – lines the tapings on the forefoot, midsoles, and sock liners, as well as through its basketball shaped dubraes. Additional nods are presented with free throw line silhouettes that lay upon the footbeds, and “10039” hits embroidered into the heels to state the park’s zip code. Grab a first look here, and expect these to be hitting Nike.com and select retailers in the coming weeks.
