The Revived New Balance 850 Is Available Now In Black And Team Red

Since signing Kawhi Leonard in 2018, New Balance has had basketball on its mind. And while this partnership has resulted in a successful run of the OMN1S, Leonard’s in-game choice before the KAWHI, the Boston-institution has tapped on the current Los Angeles Clippers forward to promote its running and lifestyle options. Among them, the New Balance 850.

Relaunched with the help of Aimé Leon Dore, the 850 has enjoyed a collaboration with No Vacancy Inn, as well as an in-line Black History Month release under the Inspire The Dream collection over the last year. Of the latter, this “Black/Team Red” colorway allows the model’s ’90s design language to shine. Panel-laden uppers are free of any profile “N” branding, but still boast mesh across the toe box, midfoot and collar like their 990v5 counterpart. Lace structures introduce some flair to the otherwise muted top-half; “NB” logos on the tongue and heel, as well as collar lining follow suit. Underneath, the 850’s chunky ABZORB midsole is completely taken over by “Black,” save for the beige Rollbar molded plate.

You can find this 850 available now on NewBalance.com for $100 USD.

Elsewhere in comfortable-sneaker news, Nike’s “current shoe of the future,” the Air Max 2090, is launching next month.
