Nike — before the onset of COVID-19 — was on track for a breakthrough year with the Tokyo Olympics marking the release of not only a number of collaborations but also an updated series of their classics runners. The Vapormax 2020, which sat adjacent to the equally forward thinking Space Hippie collection during the brand’s preview, was just one step in their plans, boasting an upper of relative likeness and a lace unit far more convenient. While vibrant renditions are confirmed to be on the way, we’re finally catching a glimpse at a forthcoming black colorway whose intermixed threads add white and grey much like past Oreo-inspired notables. Swooshes along the side intricately stitch like that of a fingerprint, the heel counter supports with an elegant marbling, and the much sleeker tooling complements with a faint icy blue. Rounded off with an attached tongue module and tightening heel pulls, the pair should be set to arrive hopefully within the coming months at Nike.com and slew of retailers.
