Whiz Limited And mita Collide For Another Starry New Balance 1700 Collaboration

The New Balance 1700, relative to the newer series of 992s and 327s, has become a vehicle for nostalgia throughout this past month — something to which the recently revived Japan-exclusive OG can attest. Continuing to nod to their history, the Boston-based footwear label is joining up with Whiz Limited and mita once again to release yet another star-clad 1700.

Rather than retread past steps, the triumvirate have opted for a much simpler approach this time around. The USA-inspired palettes are still at the helm, though their blocking opts out of the alternating scheme for one that remains identical from right to left foot. Toe boxes, dressed here in suede, are coated with the saturated blue while its surrounding suede overlays are treated to a light grey in front and a dark black just behind. Red plays the role of accents in between — the forefoot pieces embellished with star cutouts — while the rest of the construction leans much closer to neutrals. “N” logos are embroidered with contrast outlines in a fashion similar to the logos at the heel counter as well as the “1700” that dresses the side. And as per usual, each partners’ branding is subtly printed along the chain link patterned insole.

Grab a detailed look at these right here, and as they’ve released overseas today, July 6th, it may be close to impossible to acquire unless you happen to be near a Whiz or mita store to check.

In other news, a brown New Balance 991 is on the way.
