While NIKE, Inc. has garnered much attention for its “Move to Zero” campaign with the launch of the Nike Space Hippie line, the sportswear giant has also been applying its eco-friendly approach across its storied footwear roster. Among it, the beloved Air Jordan 1.

Unveiled alongside the brand-new Jordan Crater and Jordan Crater Slide, the Zoom Air-cushioned Air Jordan retro incorporates recycled polyester throughout its synthetic suede upper. Scarlet serrated stitching at the heel and on the tongue label interrupt the pair’s muted color palette; accompanying “ZOOM” branding and exposed foam collars and tongue lining do too with their respective light grey and yellow makeups. This Jordan 1’s highlight, however, is the speckled Nike Grind rubber in the foam outsole, a material that’s also made its way onto the classic Air Force 1. Combined with full-length Zoom Air cushioning, the “trash-transformed” material propels the 35-year-old-design into the next three decades and beyond.

An official Nike SNKRS release date is still unknown, but the Jordan 1 High Zoom Crater is scheduled for a September 1st release in Japan. A wider date is TBD.

UPDATE (08/27/2020):
Though scheduled to release on August 28th at Solebox, the Air Jordan 1 High Zoom Crater has not appeared on Nike SNKRS, meaning a delay is highly likely.
