Maison Margiela Goes Overboard With Vintage Obsession With Latest Air Jordan Copycats

The over-saturation of old-school still sees no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Every day, there’s a new Instagram moodboard account to follow that re-posts the same context-less BMW E30, beat-to-shit Dunk High, and Seinfeld quote about nothing. People are paying to make their new shoes look yellowed and worn. We’re way past re-kindling nostalgia; it’s beating a dead horse at this point. We get it, old is new, because new is old. And fashion houses like Margiela, which have steadily taken inspiration from sneaker brands, is attempting to cash in on the latest trend with the DDSTCK sneaker, a rip-off of the Air Jordan 4 made to look like it’s been sitting in storage for decades.

DDSTCK is obviously a compressed word for “deadstock”, an all-too-common term in sneakers that was originally used to describe items that were sitting “dead” in “stock” rooms. And we suspect that these will see the same fate because despite its fancy name-tag, these atrocities are priced at a reasonable $990. If you’re going to absolutely trash a pair of sneakers for likes and shares on social media, may we suggest any one of these three colorways on SSENSE?
