Running through the gamut of every main character, Star Wars and adidas have readied a brand new collaboration that honors the fictional franchise’s most iconic Wookiee: Chewbacca. Through a partnership that’s commemorative of 40th anniversary of the “The Empire Strikes Back”, the two parties playfully execute this design in such a way that is emblematic of the short-tempered co-pilot’s furry aesthetic and accessories.
Highlighting the ever-classic Rivalry Hi as their silhouette of choice, they morph Chewie into footwear format by coating the overlays and stripes in various shades of brown, the latter being the lighter of the two, and upgrade areas such as the toe boxes, gaps in between the stripes, and entire throat with bright beige fur textures — a design cue reminiscent of Jeremy Scott‘s past adidas collabs. Additional details to call out include that of the the Rebel Alliance affiliate’s utility belt is slung in diagonal fashion across the throat, literal graphic of himself is pasted to the tongues, as well as the interchangeable lace dubraes that can be swapped out between the Star Wars logo, the Millennium Falcon, or “Chewbacca”.
