ASICS Explores Retro-Futurism With The UB1-S GEL-Kayano 14

ASICS Explores Retro-Futurism With The UB1-S GEL-Kayano 14

Away from its partnership with Kiko Kostadinov and anniversary celebrations, ASICS has delivered a slew of early 2000s-inspired trainers that’ve found a new home among “IYKYK” (“If you know, you know”) club members. Among those silhouettes is the UB1-S GEL-Kayano 14, a modified proposition partly created by the aforementioned Bulgarian designer.

Although the GEL-Kayano 14’s performance DNA is discernible across the upper (namely via the mesh base), synthetic leather overlays and elongated pull tabs on the tongue explore retrofuturism themes. Launch colorways vary drastically, as one delivers a drab “Piedmont Grey/Graphite Grey” ensemble, while the other boasts a “Classic Red/ASICS Blue” palette, but both allow the model’s robust design to shine. As the UB1-S GEL-Kayano 14 belongs to the ASICS SportStyle label, it features the Japanese institution’s tried-and-proven GEL® cushioning accompanied by TRUSSTIC™ support unit in the center of the outsole.

Enjoy official images of this retro-futuristic duo from ASICS here below, and finds pairs arriving to retailers on November 27th for $160 USD.

Elsewhere in the world of sneakers, the JOLLY RANCHER x New Balance 480 arrives on October 31st.
