Jordan Brand Highlights Two HBCU Standout Students To Present The Air Jordan 1 Mid Let(Her)Man

In addition to pushing the boundaries within the world of performance sports, NIKE, Inc. has dedicated itself to the helping educate future generations of lawyers, athletes, designers and other professionals. Among its several ways, the North American sportswear behemoth has done so via the Jordan Wings scholarship since 2015. Adrian Allen, 21, and Darrin Francois, 20, are part of a cohort of 1,800 scholars to have attended four-year institutions with the scholarship’s financial assistance. Brand Jordan recently interviewed both students about their experience at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU) as part of its unveiling of the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Let(Her)Man.”

Inspired by collegiate homecomings, events Francois has described as “family reunion[s],” the mid-top retro features four disparate tones atop a multi-textured white base. A play on the word “letterman,” the “Let(Her)Man” iteration of the Jordan 1 Mid is a women’s exclusive, and nods to the jackets commonly worn at the aforementioned gatherings by athletes, alumni and members of on-campus Greek life. Gold detailing across the profile swooshes, ostensibly metal Wings insignia on the lateral ankle flap and tongue label’s Jumpman logo further nod to the expressive nature of the traditional collegiate outwear staple. Underfoot, a white midsole doesn’t steal any attention away from the red and blue overlays across the upper, but its accompanying gum brown outsole (arguably) does.

The mid-top Jordan 1 “Let(Her)Man” arrives on November 20th to Nike SNKRS.
