Nike Celebrates Russia With The Cyrillic-Dressed Air Max 90 “Moscow”

Following the awaited re-release of its iconic Infrared colorway, the Air Max 90 is adding new languages to its vocabulary, this pair here featured with some subtly debossed Russian text and visual nods to the country’s capital city.

And even though the offering is specially prepared, the scheme is relatively understated at most parts as it uses a versatile Smoke Grey to celebrate Moscow’s history and architecture. Lateral sides, for instance, are dressed near entirely in these shades with only slight deviation from the mesh base to the suede overlays. The medial and heel is where things start to get interesting, as a great deal of the accents — the Swoosh, midsole, back tab, and lining, specifically — color in homage to either the aforementioned staple or the equally notable Laser Blue. What’s more, “Speed” and “City” can be found in Cyrillic text atop the heel and sockliner, both referring to the “rhythm of the megalopolis.”

Grab a detailed look at these right here and expect a release to arrive at select retailers and Nike SNKRS on November 14th.

In other news, the Air Penny 3 Do It For Dez pays homage to one of Hardaway’s close friends.
