The Air Jordan 9 “Dark Charcoal” Releases This January

The Air Jordan 9 will forever hold a place in Air Jordan history for reasons other than on-court heroics. It was the first Air Jordan sneaker to release during MJ’s shocking retirement in the mid-1990s, and for that reason, it’s the first of the Tinker Hatfield era that was never worn by Michael Jordan in an NBA game – as a Chicago Bull (he wore the Cool Grey 9s while a member for the Washington Wizards). Still, the AJ9 has as much esteem as its predecessor and successor, and to this day the ninth model is regarded as one of the finer designs of Tinker’s impeccable run.

For 2021, the Air Jordan 9 – alongside the women’s exclusive Air Jordan 9 “Change The World” – will be back on store shelves. It leaves behind bells and whistles, opting for a clean and straight forward Black, Anthracite, and University Gold array similar to the immensely popular Jordan 12 University Gold from earlier this year. Will these fare as well? Expect these this Spring 2021 season in full family sizing, and see what else has been revealed in the Jordan Brand Spring 2021 preview.

Updated January 16th, 2021: The release date has been postponed to January 30th, 2021.
