Michael Le In 2021, Kyrie Irving‘s Nike signatures will shape two colorful homages to the upcoming Chinese New Year. The first, which was revealed only days ago, saw the Kybrid S2 outfitted in patchwork; the next, the Kyrie 7, is somewhat more straightforward as it’s far more sparing in its use of patterns.
But where the Kyrie 7 sets itself apart is its use of auspicious, opulent details. For example, the Swoosh opens with a visually expensive gilding, one that’s also sculpted in a way ornate. Opposite, at the medial, a more typical embroidery fills in the blanks, while also matching that of the heel whose check is framed by red-tinted, traditional symbols. Elsewhere, shades of blue begin to layer atop the lace unit, Kyrie branding, and midsole, all then overshadowed by the pink print that dresses much of the upper.
