Nike Combines Recycled Wool With Thread Embroidery On The Air Max Plus

Using the frame of the Air Max Plus, Nike is attempting to combine two of their sustainable executions. Alongside the use of Grind soles, the silhouette will be near fully constructed of the brand’s currently trending recycled wools.

These hairy textures wrap much of the underlying base, hued in a grey and further accented with loose, white threads. Then, over top that, embroideries take the place of the typically hardened overlays, each playing up the texture as well as the overall sustainability. Below and behind, leathers are sewn onto the upper with zig-zag stitch, the counter doing so with orange-tinted threads to match that of the tooling’s arc. Elsewhere, the laces and lining are far more understated, though the same cannot be said for the outsole whose entire fixture is embedded with many a colorful scrap.
