AURALEE And New Balance Give The R_C2 An Elegant, Tonal Update

AURALEE And New Balance Give The R_C2 An Elegant, Tonal Update

Since joining forces in 2019, AURALEE and the New Balance Tokyo Design Studio have collaboratively dressed many a different silhouette. And before we see the 550 teased for AW21, the two will bring things back to the model that started it all: the R_C2.

Unlike the original, the updated R_C2 boasts a more simple, elegant design, one that better complements the minimal nature of the Japanese label’s mainline pieces. The uppers are, however, still just as weather resistant, bearing all the benefits of GORE-TEX materials. Ripstop seems to line the base for further durability, while the premium leathers and suedes wrap atop in complement to one of two colorways: a cream-esque “Light Purple” and a stealthy “Charcoal.” Mesh, then, composes the tongue, while opaque TPU cages wrap the side with thin “N” logos embedded within. Underfoot, the ENCAP sole yellows to an intense degree, aiding the overall vintage allure.

For a better look, see the full images below. A release is due to hit New Balance Japan, AURALEE’s webstore, and SSENSE on March 19th.

Elsewhere, a thisisneverthat HOKA Speedgoat is on the way for next week.
