Nike Completely Restores The Air Max 90’s Original Shape For Its 30th Anniversary

As the new decade approaches here in just only a few weeks time, Nike is taking a moment to acknowledge a significant piece of their storied history as the Air Max 90 – one of their most iconic silhouettes birthed from their ever-growing Sportswear lineage – is making preparations to celebrate its 30th anniversary. By the time the 2000s rolled around, the Tinker Hatfield-designed sneaker had become a street style favorite amongst the sneaker community across the world, releasing in an overwhelming amount of unforgettable colorways from the Infared, to the DQM Bacons, to the three-piece “Independence Day” Pack that Kanye West popularized in 2013.

And for its upcoming releases, the lifestyle silhouette is going to be offered in a newly re-crafted CS version. Structural renovations revert back to the original skinny box design that kicked off its style in the 90s, followed by an Air Max 1 outsole and subtle changes altered in the toe box height, heel panel shape, and upper panel constructions. In addition, the lace dubraes also feature the years “1990” and “2020” split between each shoe as a nod to its celebrations. Multiple colorways inspired by the original shoe’s color-blocking, as well as this initial “Sail” colorway will be dropping in unisex sizes on December 21st on Nike.com.
