Before Chinese New Year evolved from inspiration for a select few sneakers once a year into a calendar-wide call to arms, it was the Nike Cortez that was selected as the Year of the Tiger representative. That pair’s ‘five finger death grip’ special packaging remains one of the more innovative sneaker boxes on record (the Flightposite Exposed looks to have assumed that role this year), so this ‘Year of the Horse‘ Cortez has quite the legacy to live up to. There doesn’t appear to be a premium box with these WMNS joints, and it feels appropriate that the original Nike running shoe could go back to basics while still utilizing significant detail on the golden uppers.
