New Balance Delivers A “Year Of The Rat” 1500 For Chinese New Year 2020

New Balance Delivers A “Year Of The Rat” 1500 For Chinese New Year 2020

While players like Nike have teased their Chinese New Year 2020 collection for months now, New Balance has taken a quieter approach to the Year of the Rat festivities, but a new 1500 sheds some light onto what the brand has had under wraps. Constructed with a premium pigskin, uppers don black and brown tones common among NB’s Fall/Winter footwear offerings, but details hidden behind the tongue and on the insole speak to this pair’s special status. An image of a jet black rat lives directly underneath the New Balance branding on the tongue and is accompanied by red “鼠” and “2020” text indicating the Lunar New Year. Similarly, insoles sport the scarlet hue and are stamped with the Chinese characters for “Year of the Rat” just below a gold-outlined “20”.

Take a closer look at this commemorative 1500 here below. Select European outposts like Foot District currently have this and accompanying 670 and 577 “Year of the Rat” releases priced around $200 USD.
