Nike Brings Recycled Principles To The Challenger OG

Nike Brings Recycled Principles To The Challenger OG

The Nike Challenger hasn’t gained the mainstream attention of other revived archival silhouettes from the brand’s catalog, but it’s delivered dozens of versatile options to those in the know. For its latest proposition, the ’70s-runner has indulged in a “Mean Green” tone complemented by understated colors and an outsole created from recycled materials.

At a glance, the forthcoming pair resembles previous releases of the Air Tailwind, but closer inspection reveals a few notable differences. Zig-zag eyestays solved fit issues reported with the aforementioned model, as scarcer use of materials around the forefoot and tongue addressed weight concerns. Although lightweight, the drab green option indulges in an ostensibly canvas construction, which delivers improved durability. Profile swooshes and heel panels contrast in material and hue, with the former’s placement on the medial side being joined by grey underlays. Midsoles maintain a standard build, while waffle-pattern tread borrows the Space Hippie‘s tooling.

An official Nike.com release date is unknown, but it’s likely this pair joins the brand’s spring lineup. While you wait, enjoy product shots here below.

Elsewhere under the Swoosh umbrella, the Air Max 96 II is set for a (mostly) proper retro throughout 2021.
